Abracadabra: You Don’t Need a Magic Wand, Just a Little Belief!

Ever wish you had a magic wand?

I recently visited the Harry Potter studios, and it got me thinking, in a world where everything is becoming instant: deliveries, messages, answers, we’ve started expecting the same speed and ease from ourselves. We’ve fallen into the trap of high expectations paired with unrealistic timelines, putting huge pressure on our minds, bodies, and souls.

June marks the start of summer and believe it or not, we’re halfway through 2025. Those bold goals and promises we made back in January? They can feel like a distant memory. It’s tempting to start looking for that “magic fix” or slip into negative self-talk about what we haven’t ticked off yet.

But what if we chose a different path?

What if we leaned into everything summer brings: light, warmth, energy, growth? Successful people don’t just set annual goals, they take the long view. Not every year looks the same, and that’s okay. What matters most is the direction we’re moving in.

So, here’s a simple exercise: grab a blank piece of paper and write down what you have achieved since January. It might not match the exact list you started with, but priorities shift, and life happens. Often, the steps you’ve taken are quietly laying the foundations for what’s to come, even if you haven’t realised it yet.

June is a month charged with positive energy. Happiness, light, love, and passion; not just in the romantic sense, but directed inward. Towards you. So take a moment. Applaud yourself. Recognise how far you’ve come and celebrate the fact that you’re on a journey of growth and change.

Change is hard. It involves building new neural pathways and flexing new mental muscles. We won’t always get it right the first time. But the most successful people don’t see “failures” as reasons to stop, they see them as data, feedback, stepping stones. Each misstep is a practice run that can sharpen your aim and deepen your resilience.

As we approach the longest day of the year, soak up the extra light; not just outside, but within. Reflect on your progress. Learn from it. Stay open to fresh opportunities. And most of all, keep going.

You don’t need a magic wand.

You just need a clear focus, a little self-compassion, and the courage to take the next small step.
